Safety Information from Atascocita High School:
Students are aware that a man was taken into police custody in front of the gym on Friday, April 23. We want to share the following factual information with you.
Around 7:10 a.m. Friday, a student reported that a man seated in a car parked in front of the gym was behaving in a suspicious manner. The man had covered his lap with a large visor that is normally used to shield car windshields. Police responded promptly to investigate and detained the man.
At that time, police did not observe any inappropriate sexual activity. However, police ran his record and learned he was wanted on out-of-state warrants in connection with counterfeiting and domestic violence charges. He was taken into police custody at that time due to those warrants.
We want to commend the student for bringing this to our attention so that it could be dealt with appropriately. Safety is always a top priority, and we are increasing our surveillance of the parking lots. Students will see additional school staff members monitoring the parking lots, in conjunction with police and video surveillance.
